Municipal Drug Strategy

The Township of Rideau Lakes has joined the Town of Gananoque and the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands on a local Municipal Drug Strategy.

What is a Municipal Drug Strategy?


An MDS is a grass-root, multi-sectoral approach for addressing substance misuse in our community.  A four pillar approach of prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and enforcement guide the work to reduce harms associated with drugs, including but not limited to alcohol, cannabis, prescription drugs and street drugs.


April 5th, 2018.  Save the Date for a Community Education Event on Non-Medical Cannabis!


On April 5th, 2018 the local Municipal Drug Strategy will be hosting an educational event on non-medical cannabis.  Speakers will discuss best practices for youth prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and enforcement when it comes to non-medical cannabis.  More details on this event to be released soon, including event registration!  Check regularly for updates.
